What is the role of collagen?

A: Collagen is the most abundant protein in the extracellular environment (outside the cell membrane) and is the main protein that makes up the structure of bones, cartilage, joints and skin.

After the age of 25, collagen biosynthesis slows down, with an average annual decrease of about 1.5%. As a result, bone, cartilage, and skin structures weaken, resulting in phenomena such as bone deterioration, joint weakness, and wrinkles on the skin.

The addition of collagen or collagen biosynthesis-stimulating factors during this period plays an important role in maintaining the health of the bones, joints and skin.
